Vera Marie Rodewald

Vera Marie Rodewald (she/her) is a media educator and works as a coordinator at the Center for Cultural Education and Mediation in Hamburg. She also works as a freelance mediator, teacher and counselor.
For more than ten years, she has been working with the Creative Gaming Initiative to explore how the creative potential of digital games can be used in educational contexts. In workshops, trainings and events, she provides insights into the fascination of digital gaming culture and its practices. She is the artistic director of the PLAY - Creative Gaming Festival and was part of the management team of the ComputerSpielSchule Hamburg.
As a member of jaf - Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e. V., she is involved in the conception and realization of various newcomer film festivals (e.g. abgedreht! Hamburg), action-oriented workshops (e.g. film projects) and trainings. The focus of her work is on young people, but also on multipliers who are themselves active in the field of (media) education. She works at the interface between school and extracurricular practice, including in libraries and youth centers.
As spokesperson for the Hamburg regional group of the Gesellschaft für Medienpädagogik und Kommunikationskultur (Society for Media Education and Communication Culture) and as a member of the editorial team and network of Mediennetz Hamburg, she also represents the interests of media education stakeholders in the city and engages in dialog with political decision-makers.
Games are her favorite hobby and preferred medium for active media work.
