School program

This year, the theme «Hey, listen! – Music & Emotion» relates to mixtape culture of sharing bonds and feelings with the people you like and love.

School classes and student groups can choose from different ways to experience PLAY26, including interactive festival visits and hands-on workshops. The workshops and festival visits are recommended for young people aged 12 and over.

The desired offer can be booked via our booking tool starting September 15, 2026. Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.

A) Workshops (in German only)

The school workshop program combines a visit to the exhibition and a gaming industry visit with a hands-on workshop. Choose from three formats focusing on game design, music, sound, and creative game development:

• Platform and Sound – designing games with your own soundtrack

• Build Your Own Instrument – building instruments with MakeyMakey

• GameBody – From Game to Body – exploring game characters, movement, and emotions through theatre and sound

Dates: November 18–20, 2026, 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Cost: €125 per class

B) Festival Visit including Exhibition and Creative Gaming Studio

Alternatively, school classes can explore the festival independently. Discover around 30 interactive games, join exhibition tours, and try out creative hands-on stations in the Creative Gaming Studio. This year, the Studio also features Sidequests, PLAY-Radio, and opportunities to create your own mixtapes.

Dates: November 18–20, 2026, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 12 p.m.–3 p.m.
Cost: €65 per class

C) Additional offers for school groups

PLAY26 also offers an IT and technology project for profile classes and IT courses, an in-school teacher training program, and a Table Talk with politicians on games, media, and education for upper-secondary groups.
