Helping Hands Wanted!

The PLAY – Creative Gaming Festival will take place from 18 to 21 November 2026 at urbaneo – Junges Architektur Zentrum in Hamburg’s HafenCity district. With a diverse program of workshops, talks, shows, performances and numerous international games in the exhibition, this year’s festival focuses on the theme “Hey, listen! – Music & Emotion”.

For the realisation of the festival, we are looking for dedicated people from Hamburg who would like to support us on a voluntary basis and help us create a unique festival experience together.

As part of the PLAY team, you will gain exciting insights behind the scenes of an international festival and meet many dedicated people from the fields of games, art, education and culture.

Who we are looking for

Whether you already have festival experience or are joining for the first time: We are happy to welcome open, friendly and reliable people who would like to help create a successful festival experience.

Before the festival, there will be team meetings to get to know each other, prepare, and take a tour of the festival venue. This gives you the opportunity to get to know the team, the spaces and your area of responsibility in advance.

After your involvement, you will also have the opportunity to receive a certificate confirming your voluntary work.

Interested?

Please contact Carina via email at Carina.schwering@creative-gaming.eu.

Please let us know which areas you are interested in and all time slots that would generally work for you (the times listed are preliminary and may change slightly during final program planning):

Wednesday to Saturday (November 18–21)

  • Early shift: 8:00 am–3:00 pm

  • Late shift: 2:30 pm–9:30 pm

The exact working times will be coordinated with you individually.

For the Technology and Design & Decoration areas, we need support before the festival starts. Please let us know if you are available on:

  • November 14, 15, 16, and 17 (Technology)

  • November 16 and 17 (Design & Decoration)

As some activities involve contact with school classes and other youth groups, an extended police clearance certificate is required. We will of course be happy to support you with the application process.

We look forward to meeting you!
