Jan Libbertz

Member of the Hamburg Parliament for DIE LINKE, spokesperson for justice, family, and youth policy.

My name is Jan Philipp Libbertz—I am a social worker and, since March 2025, one of 121 members of the Hamburg Parliament. My party is Die Linke, so naturally I am part of the left-wing faction. I am a member of parliament and spokesperson for justice, family, and youth policy.

I grew up in Hamburg. My father was a dockworker and my mother was a nurse. After training as a social education assistant, I graduated from Anna Warburg School and then studied education and educational science at the University of Hamburg.

Hamburg has a part-time parliament, which means that we can also work alongside politics. So I'm not only a politician, but also continue to work as a social worker in Osdorf.

What do I want to achieve politically? Well, for example, that all children and young people can participate! Swimming pools, sports clubs, museums, cinemas, and vacation programs should be free and not depend on their parents' money. All students should have tablets or laptops and access to the internet. And youth clubs, youth centers, and playhouses for younger children should be properly funded because that's where democracy is learned—not in boring politics lessons, but while gaming, crafting, playing, or just hanging out.

Are you familiar with these facilities? If not, take a look.
