jaf – Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e. V.
jaf – Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e. V. (formerly Junger Arbeitskreis Film und Video e. V.) has been around since 1952 and is one of Germany's oldest youth film associations. These days, it's one of the most important initiators of active media work in Hamburg.
At the heart of jaf's media education work is the idea of using and getting involved in media communication in a creative way. That's why jaf e. V. runs projects using audiovisual and digital media. The focus is on action-oriented project work in schools and extra-curricular contexts.
The association is funded by the voluntary work of its members and is only supported by specific project funds. It's a non-profit, independent youth welfare organization. It's also a member of several other organizations, including Mediennetz Hamburg e.V., LAG-Kinder- und Jugendkultur, Seitenstark e.V. and FRAME – the conference of independent media centers.
